Update on Kindle DX Auctions

With the recent news that the Kindle DX has sold out yet again, it's probably going to be a while before a steady stream of the used Kindle DX shows up on eBay. In my searching, I've seen many of the Kindle Covers for the DX pop up and many of the "3rd party" varieties that I'd never recommend buying, but only a handful of DX units at a slightly inflated price.

As of this writing, more Kindle DX units are expected to ship in about 4 to 6 weeks. This means that if you're interested in grabbing one, you should go ahead and place your order. The Kindles are shipped on a first come, first served basis, so the sooner you order, the sooner you'll have it in your hands.

The apparent shortage of the Amazon Kindle is nothing new and has been a part of all the version releases. Due to their popularity, many units are pre-ordered months before the release date. Since Amazon fills these orders first, their supply of units runs out quickly. This is why availability seems sporadic for the first few months after a release. With time, the availability of the Kindle DX will be as steady as its previous versions. Further out, truly "used kindle dx" units will begin to trickle through the web. When this happens, we'll add another section to the site so you'll be able to search through them just as easily as the others.
